James Madison University Forbes Center for the Performing Arts

Highlights

The Forbes Center was a new construction of a 174,000 square foot performing arts building housing five state-of-the-art performance venues: the Mainstage Theatre (450 seats), the Concert Hall (600 seats), the Recital Hall (196 seats), the Studio Theatre (200 seats) and the Earlynn J. Miller Dance Theatre (200 seats). It also includes classroom, rehearsal, and office facilities. It was a mechanically intense and complex project with acoustical considerations to provide a sound-sensitive environment throughout the facility’s performing venues.

RBI installation work included:

  • Central plant cooling and heating systems with chillers, cooling towers, heating water boilers and centralized pumps
  • Acoustical considerations throughout the air handlers and duct systems
