Rocktown High School

Highlights

Rocktown High School is a new multi-story high school for the City of Harrisonburg consisting of 270,000 total square feet. The building is made up of six different wings that will include classrooms and administrative offices, a media center, a cafeteria, a dance studio, gyms, a fitness center, CTE, and an art and engineering shop.

RBI’s role included:

  • Design and build for the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems
  • Utilization of a geothermal heat pump loop and heat pump equipment located throughout the building
  • Energy heat recovery rooftop units and natural gas-fired air units along with other energy-saving features and building automation controls to maximize total building HVAC efficiency
  • Water-saving fixtures and services for multiple plumbing utilities for science labs, chemistry labs, kitchen equipment, and a rainwater harvesting tank
